ODC is pleased to announce that it will hold its third annual Idea Development Workshop on November 5 & 6, 2024, over the two days before its Annual Conference. The virtual workshop is designed to support PhD students and other junior scholars interested in topics related to organization design, by matching each participant with three senior scholars who will provide feedback on early-stage work, similar in format to a PhD proposal defense.
Workshop plan
Each day’s program will consist of two parallel feedback sessions of 40 minutes each, followed by an hour-long panel. Each feedback session will consist of a 10-minute presentation by the participant, 5-minute comments by each mentor, and open discussion. The feedback sessions will be open only to program participants and applicants. This year’s panels will be about “Organizations as AI systems” and “Multi-method studies on organization design”.
Mentors
Faculty mentors include Oliver Alexy, Oliver Baumann, Richard Burton, Francisco Brahm, Vibha Gaba, Srikanth Kannan, Thorbjorn Knudsen, Tobias Kretschmer, Sunkee Lee, Børge Obel, Hart Posen, Marlo Raveendran, Markus Reitzig, Metin Sengul, Bart Vanneste, Gurneeta Vasudeva, Maciej Workiewicz, and Brian Wu.
How to apply
We welcome participants from all stages of a PhD program, post-docs, and junior faculty, but places in the workshop are limited. Applicants should submit a (maximum) 5-page paper / thesis proposal to the workshop co-chairs Özgecan Koçak (ozgecan.kocak@emory.edu) and Marco Minervini (marco.minervini@ie.edu) by October 23, 2024. We will inform all applicants of their admission and match them with mentors by October 29. Successful applicants will be awarded an annual membership to ODC, which also covers the fees for the conference on November 7-8.
