Webinar

"Studying Organizational Design using Qualitative Methods "

  • Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 10 am Eastern Time

Join Raghu Garud (Penn State University, USA) and Philipp Tuertscher (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands) to get a behind the scenes look at how qualitative researchers study organization design issues. They will talk about how they went about researching the emergence of architecture (both technical and collaborative) at ATLAS, CERN, the particle accelerator in Geneva. They will also share a variety of data to help participants get a taste of the process through a hands-on exercise during the webinar. In particular, the session will explore different approaches to handle longitudinal qualitative data to study organization design. Whether you have never done qualitative research before or are a pro looking to hone your skills, you are bound to learn something from this webinar hosted by two leading researchers in the field.

  • Raghu Garud is Farrell Chair in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Professor of Management & Organization, Pennsylvania State University. Raghu’s research explores organizing for the emergence and adoption of novelty. His work was recently recognized by the TIM Division of the Academy of Management as its distinguished scholar for 2020

  • Philipp Tuertscher is Associate Professor of Technology and Innovation and a member of the KIN Center for Digital Innovation at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In his research, Philipp studies collaborative innovation and design in a variety of settings including large-scale scientific collaborations at CERN, open-source software projects, online communities, crowdsourcing initiatives, and science-industry collaborations.

Webinar is only for ODC, EODF and ODF members only.
