The Organizational Design Community (ODC) invites you to the following webinar:

Old Bottle, New Wine: Org Design for AI-Native Teams

--- 27th August 2026, Thursday at 9am EST/3pm CET ---

In this ODC presentation, Sunil Setlur will discuss how AI-native teams are organized and argue that this is not a new organizational form. Rather, it is the small, senior, low-hierarchy expert team that socio-technical systems theory described in the 1950s, now newly affordable. Organization design has always been about managing coordination costs and information-processing load. AI raises the capability of each node while lowering the cost of coordinating between them, so the optimal team predictably shrinks and grows more senior. Sunil will examine this through four lenses: how AI use actually changes people, the aspirational AI-native team, its correspondence to small expert organizations, and field observation. The bottle is old; the wine inside it is not.

About the Speaker:

Sunil Setlur leads People & Culture as Chief People Officer at Mindtickle (a leading AI-powered revenue productivity platform) and is a Founder and Managing Director of Cognisen, an advisory practice focused on organizational strategy, culture, and the people decisions that drive business outcomes. Sunil has also held CPO and senior people leadership roles at Gojek (through its $26B IPO), Google, Amazon, and Accenture leading people functions across organizations ranging from high-growth startups to companies of 100,000+ employees across Asia, India, and globally. He believes the best version of the future is one where technology makes people more human, and has spent two decades building organizations that operate that way. A self-confessed Star Trek nerd, he has always believed the most powerful thing on any starship is a crew that knows exactly why they’re out there — and applies that conviction to every organization he touches.

Register here: https://orgdesigncomm.com/events

Registration closes on 26 August 2026 at 9 am EST.

Organization Design Community Annual Conference 2026 (30 Sep 2026)

ODC annual conference 2026

Designing for the Unknown

September 30 - October 1st, 2026

The 2026 ODC Annual Conference will be held fully on-line, spread out over two consecutive days: September 30 and October 1. It is co-organized by Özgecan Koçak (Emory University) and Jeroen van Bree (Berenschot & University of Amsterdam). The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Designing for the Unknown’. The unprecedented turbulence that organizations are currently faced with means we have to design for an unknown future. Our hope is that this conference will be a forum for exchange about this pressing issue between academics, practitioners, and executives. On the first day of the conference, we want to explore several developments that are bringing change and uncertainty to organizations, such as the rise of GenAI, geopolitical turbulence, and climate change. On the second day, we want to explore what innovations the field of organization design can bring to address these challenges.

If your organization is sending more than one participant to the conference, we offer two options. One option is to become a corporate member, which offers full access to all the benefits of ODC membership for an unlimited number of members from your organization. The other option is to get a custom discount for this annual conference, based on the number of people from your organization that are signing up. For both options, please contact us at info@orgdesigncomm.com.
